OMG! It's Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2012 on Saturday and all the artists are busy rehearsing in the Gigantium in Aalborg. The songs can all be heard on the DR website here, but we're most excited about Ditte Marie, the lead singer of Le Freak. She's ditched her band this year and gone solo with a Kylie-esque disco-schlager anthem. It looks like she'll be waving her arms around dramatically while all those tassles get flung around . Hopefully there'll be a wind-machine to provide a bit of extra billowing, although Ditte might need to get some thermals on over the spangly leotard otherwise she'll catch a right old chill.
And then there's Karen Viuff, who's singing "Universe", co-written by the same writer as last year's "New Tomorrow". Her outfit has got the biggest shoulder-pads this side of Joan Collins. Hopefully the hair will be a lot bigger by Saturday night too.

Lise Cabble who was involved in writing "Universe" and "New Tomorrow" also wrote a lot of other national final songs. Both attempts by Aud Wilken ("Fra Mols til Skagen" and "Husker du") and Sanne Gottlieb ("Uden dig" and "Tog jeg fejl") respectively, Sukkerchock's "Det' Det" - and less interestingly Lasse Lindorf's "Hooked on you", Claus Christensens "Big Bang baby" and Silas & Kat's "Come Come Run Away". If anyone cares!
This year my vote will be with Aya. Love that one.
YES! Ditte or Karen please Denmark. Or Suriya, as Forever I B Young is one of those songs that I love but everyone else detests.
Also, may I say how much I love an outfit where the sleeve tassels are longer than any other part? Where do I get me one of those...
